How to be together?

In Duets, two bodies, two persons, stand for the minimum needed for the founding of a community. In our age of individualism and loneliness, the artists decided to find new ways to meet and to communicate without words. How can we be together when we come from totally different environments and another context? What does understanding each other mean today?

People who have never set foot on a stage encounter professional dancers. The duets will be created in an unconventional manner through workshops during which performers Tereza Ondrová and Viktor Černický dance with persons they did not know prior to the workshop. The workshop participants are both performers as well as witnesses to these encounters. A meeting between two strangers is about mutual attention and the bodies present. Every duet examines our concepts and prejudices as well as our ability to perceive skill, nearness, and sympathy.

The Duets performance is based on minimalism, on simplicity, but also on the coincidence every evening will yield anew among the people meeting. Duets is a portrait of people and their relationships that unfold in front of an audience.

How can you create a space that enables deceleration for a while? How can you capture the complexity of human relations that play out on the levels of diversity, of our physicalness, and of our emotions? And how should we perceive such encounters?
