Flamenco

José Manuel Sanchez Moreno comes from Málaga/ Andalusia and encountered flamenco there when still a child, going on to learn from genre greats, among them Enrique Burgos, Pepito Vargas and Manolete. He is not only an expressive dancer, but also a patient and motivating teacher capable of conveying flamenco in all its facets. This beginner’s course aims to give its participants a basic insight into flamenco dance. Apart from practical exercise, theoretical knowledge on flamenco will also be included in the curriculum.

From Andalusia to “Albeniz” (classical Spanish music) to “Rosalia”... Flamenco through the ages. We will dance flamenco elements to flamenco music but also to classical Spanish music and also to modern flamenco pop music (Rosalia and others). 

Choreography: Fandangos

Fandangos are performed and danced in many Spanish provinces. The fandango de Huelva originates from the Andalusian city of Huelva. It is one of the “palos flamencos”. The compas (“beat”) is a 6-beat rhythm, the character is classically elegant.

The course is accompanied by live music on the guitar.
