Voguing developed during the 70s/80s in the LGBTQIA+ community in Harlem. "Fem" embodies the extremely feminine appearance of the glamorous drag and disco queens of earlier decades and the posing of supermodels, which later strongly influenced the dance. The focus is on the story that is told during the performance. In addition, there are influences from other areas such as modern dance, jazz dance, figure skating, and pantomime. In the workshop, participants learn how to create an individual performance through various freestyle techniques and movement variations, based on the "Five Elements", while emphasizing femininity. Heels are welcome - Dress to impress!
This workshop is part of the Moving Concrete festival.
