Mood swings, decelerated reflexes, dizziness: The various burnout symptoms creep into everyday life undetected. Viktor Szeri undertakes no effort to hide his apathy in this solo but instead draws on personal experience and erects the choreography on tiredness, on wanting nothing. Szeri examines the boundaries and the tolerances of his own body through the burnout filter. fatigue becomes an experiment for the audience, confronted with this sedated vision, too.

fatigue won the 2023 Rudolf Lábán Prize and has been selected as part of the Twenty24 Artists Aerowave network.

Viktor Szeri is a Budapest-based artist and choreographer. He connects different (performative) art forms in his multidisciplinary pieces. Yet dance plays a decisive role in the release of transient and vulnerable human bodies from the constraints of social norm. Szeri’s performances are visceral: The barriers between stage and audience vanish. They invite the public into intimate realities wherein the audience obtains an active role.
