Alfonso Losa is widely celebrated as his generation’s most classical dancer and as the most contemporary among the classical dancers. With Flamenco: espacio creativo, he goes on to prove exactly that: In a startlingly refined suite of dance, vocals, and guitar, he presents a tribute to traditional flamenco, extracting contemporary modes of expression from the tradition.
Flamenco: espacio creativo is based on Losa’s love for dance. To him, the creative space, the “espacio creativo” within flamenco, is like the universe: seemingly finite and yet boundless. Flamenco bears a great heritage, and yet the beginning, time and again, lies in the unknown – with something that needs to be born and uncovered.

Alfonso Losa is among the leading dancers of the Madrid school. He adds impressive control and a dizzying rhythm to their characteristic simple elegance and verticality. At the same time, he inspires a new generation of dancers. For this performance, he brings along dancer Concha Jareño as an “artista invitada”. She, too, joins tradition with sophisticated and expressive presentations with which she repeatedly enchants her audience.
Alfonso Losa succeeded in finding his own artistic language that enables him to convey authentic concepts of traditional dance through the dance codes of our times.
