What is sex? What does love feel like when I grow up? Who am I, really?
Two dancers share and explore coming-of-age stories using dance, music, and performance. Inquisitive and sensual ideas on life emerge from between different perspectives and worries. Dance theatre piece Zuckerwatte in Echt deals with the topics of love, sexuality, and identity. It is addressed to people aged 10 and up. The young audience will be invited into different spheres of emotions and thought through dance, language, and music. Zuckerwatte in Echt unveils puberty to be a queer stage of life for all young people.
Tülvistas produce German-language dance theatre about sex education for young people. At the intersection of political education and aesthetics, they generate feminist edutainment. The Tülvistas are feminist performance artists, accomplices, and intermediary agents. As door openers, it is their aim to encourage young people to embark on a quest for their own voices, their own gender and their own lust. Julika Schlegel and Franca-Rosa von Sobbe initiated Tülvistas in 2021. From there, they began to appear in the various living realities of young people: In school auditoriums and theatres, at queer youth events, in neighbourhood cultural centres and in black boxes as well as open air. Apart from their performances, they also offer workshops on sex education and empowerment. In 2023, they received the Kaleidoskop Kinder- und Jugendtheaterpreis Hessen, awarded by the youth jury, for their first performance piece for a young 14 + audience, Tülva. Tülva toured Germany in 2024. They are going to expand their topics of self-determined, gender diverse sex education to include programmes for even younger people aged 10 and up throughout 2025/ 2026.
