There is still much to discuss and do: together with artists and festival organisers from the independent scene, as well as representatives from cultural administration and funding bodies, we want to exchange ideas, connect – and start warming up. Not least in view of the upcoming rally of the Kulturbündnis NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia Cultural Alliance) on 8 October at 3:30 p.m. in front of the state parliament, it is important to show solidarity and engage in dialogue on various levels. Talking and also dancing. Together with the project local dancing, which offers fictional traditional circle dances. The dances seem to have travelled through time and space. They cannot be defined: not by pair logic, not by nationality, not by roles. They invite us to connect with each other, without prior knowledge, without attribution. Without national ties, the dances pretend to be local wherever they appear. Accompanied by live keyboard music, they create an occasion to come together and, in the repetition and routine of circular choreography, explore how we as a group can leave something standing together and carry it at the same time.

We want to warm up for the conversation with cultural policy makers, for the demonstration, for the coming winter. Guided by the desire to engage in dialogue with one another, the aim is to allow existing tensions to surface, to try out new forms of coexistence and to find ways of working together reliably and in solidarity. What kind of relationships do we want to enter into? In what structures do we move together? Who is close to whom, who supports whom, who lets go? What forms of togetherness emerge when we rearrange ourselves, beyond hierarchy or habit? Dance experience is not necessary. Drinks and snacks will be available and we will take regular breaks. Spontaneous breaks are possible at any time. The languages spoken will be German and English.
