What happens when an artificial intelligence collaborates on a choreography’s creation? On the basis of AI directions, generated prior to each performance, to be discovered by the performers on stage in real time, the artistic process will be unveiled – the audience witnesses a truthful visual laboratory of possible relations between humans and artificial intelligence. Human in the loop takes a humorous, unconventional glance at power distribution and questions our freedom within a repressive, devious and oftentimes absurd structure steered by algorithms.

“Nicole Seiler stands for an artistic career of rare coherence and tenacity. In her projects, she consistently surprises through her radical and painstaking works in which she varies the interplay between image, voice, text, and sound. Whether it is a game between the real and the virtual, basic dance, or a little absurd theatre that interweaves new memory and old remembrance, stories large and small: What is shown is both subtle and strong, because, in connecting the steps of the living with the traces of what is past, she creates a universal dimension.” (Jury Schweizer Preis Darstellende Künste 2021/ Jury Swiss Award for the Performing Arts, 2021)
