Less might be more, but sometimes less is just nothing

Willy Prager

Dates
17.03.2023 – 18.03.2023
Mehrere Performer*inenn befinden sich auf einer Bühne, die mit buntem Licht ausgeleuchtet ist. Sie befinden sich alle in derselben Pose, der jeweils rechte Arm ist nach oben ausgestreckt.

Bulgarian choreographer Willy Prager’s newest work is situated at the intersection of visual art and disco dance culture. The performance takes inspiration from the disco dance group Ballet Zoom, set up in Spain in 1973. Prager develops the piece together with students at the Academy of Dance and Performance, organized by the Bucharest National Centre for Dance.

“As an artist, I am interested in transformational processes in the context of social, political, economic, and cultural changes. Before COVID-19, the development of contemporary art followed the modern principle – less is more. Constraints in the last months, less communication, less meetings, less dancing, less participation, less protest, less socialising, less interpretation, less criticism, less demonstrations, less participants, less of… My performance examines whether less is still more, or if it rather isn’t.” – Willy Prager
