Sebastian Matthias’ interactive dance performance negotiates the question whether digital content may become a threat, and what traces are left in our bodies by smartphone technology. The visitors will encounter critters of fear in Urban Creatures, and they will become part of the sound installation themselves. Electronic sounds from the mobile phone melt into one collective, resonating body. The newly designed Urban Creatures app reacts to physical proximity occurring between audience and performers. Virtual worlds meet one of humanities basic emotions – fear!

Sebastian Matthias was a Factory Artist at tanzhaus nrw from 2014 until 2016, showing Danserye, three parts of his groove space series as well as Intergalactic Underwater Palace for children and XOXO for a young adult audience. He develops interdisciplinary projects between dance, media, and sciences through his practice in participatory artistic research.
