The starting point of the Be Arielle F performance lies in the moment when artist Simon Senn buys the digital copy of a female body on the 3dscanstore.com website. Following the download of the acquired data containing a static, photorealistic 3D model of a young woman, Simon Senn works on bringing the data to life. By utilising virtual reality technologies, including sensors that are used for video games, he is eventually able to embody the woman himself. He slips into the avatar with his body. This way, details and characteristics, hair and skin of this virtual body become visible. The artist embarks on a social media quest for the woman whose body he virtually inhabits. He finds her and engages in an exchange that still continues. Together, they explore this third digital body that exists between them.

Be Arielle F already was an experience as a digital conference on Zoom during the online edition of TEMPS D’IMAGES 2021 and will now proceed to take place in a version for physical spaces at tanzhaus nrw. Simon Senn, video artist from Geneva, opens a negotiation process about the presumed opposition of virtual and physical worlds in this performance. He plays with the unexpected and reveals the interdependences of technology, representation, gender, and law.
