Balancing Bodies

Cie. Woest
Studio 6
Dates
04.05.2019 – 07.05.2019
Mehrere Menschen befinden sich sitzend oder in Bewegung auf der Bühne.

The setting: No stage, no consecutively numbered seats, no dimmed lights. We, the audience, find ourselves in s studio, perched on wheeled office chairs – whizzing around the room. Around us: Four performers who invite us to read a letter or to paint a picture. Then, the situation dissolves again. Everything changes, becomes unhinged, only to create a new image shortly afterwards.

Dutch dance theatre collective Woest around Manon Avermaete is renowned for its outdoor performances: They do not mind hard quarry tiles, cobblestones, wet concrete and even the unpredictable changes in the weather and the audience – quite on the contrary: They embrace the challenges and imponderabilities of their respective settings. The group toys with the audience’s expectations, break theatre codes and sets the space and the different elements included into motion. Every performance celebrates the moment, it is always created together with the audience, it is simultaneously elusive as it is unique.
