Bodies and Structure

In Düsseldorf choreographer Alexander Waierstall’s new work, bodies encounter each other as well as the monumental, functional “Arena” sculpture created by American artist Rita McBride. So, for the first time, “Arena” transitions from a museum space into a stage space. Similarly, Alexandra Waierstall’s choreography, incorporating ten exceptional dancers and their movement tracks, migrates from a flat surface area into the vertical dimension by using “Arena’s” enormous incline. An organism of bodies and structures emerges – indefatigable and fleeting, fragile and resilient. Moments of relationship and communication appear and dissolve again, become visible while others remain invisible.
