Just in Time
In more than 600 letters, deufert&plischke collected the substance linking people to dance: Love letters and funny anecdotes, convoluted life stories, complicated confessions or dance described as laughing stock, model for further discussion, as therapist, opponent and projection foil. Artist twins deufert&plischke install a living archive of dance experience in “Just in Time”. Following collections in Tel Aviv, Berlin and New York, Düsseldorf will be their next stop. They invite people who dance as well as those who never wanted to dance in the first place, or who should never have danced, to write down their experiences in a letter addressed to dance itself, along with a description of their favourite or most deeply experienced movement. The collected scripts will be presented at a dance ball, and all writers and all those interested are very welcome to get acquainted with the city’s favourite movements and to dance along.
Katrin Deufert and Thomas Plischke live and work in Berlin. In the past 15 years, they have realised numerous theatre projects that have dealt with the situation of artistic production and its complex social dynamics and logistics. Their works reach beyond the scope of dance and theatre, engaging in individual participation and social routine.
