Tango-Café: Tango Dance for People with Parkinson Disease

Workshop with Andrea Stegmaier del Prado

In this class you can get to know the basic principles of Tango Argentino and practise them in a relaxed setting, according to your own abilities. Argentine tango is a couple's dance based on improvisation, in which empathy and coordination between your own movements and those of your dance partner are constantly trained. The musical diversity of the tango orchestras also offers plenty of scope for individual interpretation.
These characteristics of Argentine tango are particularly beneficial for people with motor impairments. In recent years, clinical studies have shown that Argentine tango can even significantly reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s patients. People with other neurodegenerative diseases and similar symptoms are just as welcome to join in. No previous experience is required. It is not necessary to bring a dance partner.
The class is led by Andrea Stegmaier del Prado. She is a trained stage dancer and dance teacher and has taught Argentine tango at tanzhaus nrw for many years.
