The Adaptable Body - Entity

Workshop with Jason Martin

This course aims to increase participants' adaptability through continuous exploration; we connect with every part of the body and develop greater sensitivity and mobility. By combining somatic and dance approaches, every gesture has an origin and a purpose, allowing the physical potential to be fully exploited. Dealing with different movement systems encourages participants to constantly face new challenges: they switch between different states, play with intensity, speed and rhythm and react spontaneously. This approach makes it possible to break through familiar patterns and open up new ways of movement, perception and movement design. In the second part of the workshop, these principles are then applied in practice - be it through choreographic research or examining the company's repertoire.

Jason Martin ist ein in Montreal (Quebec, Kanada) ansässiger Tänzer, Schauspieler und Choreograf. Nach seinem Abschluss an der École de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal im Jahr 2012 tanzte er bei renommierten kanadischen Kompanien, darunter Compagnie Marie Chouinard, Compagnie Dave St-Pierre, Daniel Léveillé Danse und le Carré des Lombes. Im Jahr 2017 gründete er ENTITEY/jason martin. Seine Arbeiten wurden seither über 100 Mal in 20 Ländern auf vier Kontinenten aufgeführt und mehrfach international ausgezeichnet: als bester Tänzer beim Internationalen Tanzfestival SoloDuo NRW + Friends (Deutschland), mit dem Jurypreis für die beste choreografische Arbeit beim Certamen Coreográfico 10 Sentidos (Spanien), mit dem Preis für eine künstlerische Residenz am La Gomera Choreography Center beim Festival Masdanza (Spanien) sowie mit dem dritten Platz bei ICC LINKAGE (Bulgarien). Darüber hinaus erhielt Jason Aufträge zur Kreation von Werken für diverse Tanzkompanien, darunter das Ballett der Oper Breslau (Polen), Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM (Mexiko), Ballet Nacional Dominicano (Dominikanische Republik), Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers (Kanada), Ballet Metropolitano de Medellín (Kolumbien) und Compañía Nacional de Danza de Costa Rica. Er wird häufig als Gastchoreograf und Dozent eingeladen; zu seinen Engagements zählen unter anderem das b12 Festival (Deutschland), Skånes Dansteater (Schweden), die Taipei National University of the Arts (Taiwan), Ballet Arabesque (Bulgarien), die Escuela Nacional de Danza Clásica y Contemporánea (Mexiko) und die École de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal (Kanada)
