New artistic and managing director
Ingrida Gerbutavičiūtė becomes new tanzhaus nrw artistic and managing director, starting in the 2022/23 season
Ingrida Gerbutavičiūtė will take over the reins as artistic and managing director for tanzhaus nrw from the 2022/23 season. She will succeed Bettina Masuch, who has been managing tanzhaus nrw since 2014 and who will become artistic and managing director at Festspielhaus St. Pölten in the autumn of 2022. The Düsseldorf cultural institution gains an accomplished dance expert dance scholar, dramaturge, and curator in Ingrida Gerbutavičiūtė.
The selection committee, made up of representatives of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, of the State Capital of Düsseldorf, of the tanzhaus nrw management and of members from both the regional and national dance scene, chose the Lithuania-born dramaturge from a host of around 30 candidates.

Therefore, it is with great and pleasant anticipation that I look forward to the honour and responsibility to lead this house as artistic and managing director from the 2022/23 season on.”
Ingrida Gerbutavičiūtė works as a dance critic and freelance dramaturge and curator. She curated Berlin festival “Litauen tanzt (Lithuania dances)” from 2012 until 2017. Additionally, she co-curated the “Lithuanian Dance Showcase” platform as well as the “Baltic Dance Platform” several times, while she also held the chair for dance at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius. Gerbutavičiūtė was nominated for Lithuania’s supreme theatre award, the Golden Stage Cross, in the “best dramaturgy of the year” category. She is a member of many expert panel jurys, among them, as a jury member, Tanzplattform Deutschland 2020 and the Federal Programme “NEUSTART KULTUR”. She is currently head dramaturge of Tanzkongress 2022, presented by the German Federal Cultural Foundation and Staatstheater Mainz.
