The end of the world has not yet arrived, just as the End of History has not. The only thing that is for certain: The fun is over! In IT’S THE END OF THE AMUSEMENT PHASE, three electrifying dancers send their audience on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, facts, images, and parades; so intense, it is dizzying. They march, they dance, they smash a birthday cake. And most of all: They refuse to surrender. With references to artists ranging from Bob Fosse and Trisha Brown to Beyoncé, a new movement vocabulary emerges, between automatism and excess, carried by a dense sonic, almost distorted soundscape: High-frequency guitar riffs and driving percussion unhinge the heart’s rhythm. Between personal and collective history, the piece puts the dancing body front-and-centre.

The piece received a nomination for the Sadler’s Wells Bloom Prize 2027. It is part of the Aerowaves 2026 and Moving Balkans 2026 Selections.

Greece-based Chara Kotsali works as a dance creator, performer, and teacher. She explores choreography and performance with an expanded approach that includes methods from anthropology, documentary art, music, and the performative arts. One focus lies on questions for the politics of sound and movement. Her works entered the nomination selections for the Aerowaves platform for both Twenty24 as well as Twenty26.
