Karstein Solli Productions and Øystein Elle / Capto Musicae
Electrifying rock ‘n’ roll riffs, glitzy costumes, contemporary dance and a good dose of humour come together to create a dance and theatre concert for the very young. Rock Me Baby combines hard rock rhythms, catchy tunes, contemporary dance, poetic soundscapes and playfully absurd scenes to captivate children and adults alike. With visual and acoustic elements inspired by the world of rock, this performance redefines what art for the youngest audiences can be—all in a safe and engaging environment. In the glam rock and hair metal eras of the 1970s and 80s, gender boundaries were blurred and artists often presented as androgynous. In “Rock Me Baby”, five performers explore these historic trends and play around with new ways of expressing gender on stage.
Karstein Solli and Øystein Elle have previously collaborated on a number of acclaimed performances for young audiences which have been presented both nationally and internationally. This production features stunning costumes by Kjell I. Nordstrøm, who is known for his work on the Masked Singer-style competition “Maskorama” nationally televised on Norwegian broadcaster NRK.
