Hosted by Takao Baba
There are many creative dancers to be found in the battle scene. By contrast, the number of urban stage productions is comparatively small. The Performance Session provides a platform on stage for the creative people on the urban scene. The session is open to dancers who wish to try their choreographies or concepts in front of an audience. Improvisation is as welcome as a completed concept.
Registration and information for dancers: takao@dance-unity.com

Rymon Zacharei (Rayboom): The Missing Frame
The Missing Frame is a dance production that explores the challenges and achievements of women in the hip-hop dance scene. At its core is the question of how women can find their voice and gain recognition in this often male-dominated world.
The dancers contribute their unique perspectives, experiences, and identities, resulting in a multifaceted and emotional piece that artistically portrays the contrasts between restriction and freedom, isolation and community.
Dancers: Lisa Lamprecht “Lizzie-Lio” & Yasmine Calasse; Costumes and Set Design: Anastasiia Trifonenko
This project, The Missing Frame, is supported by the Kulturamt Düsseldorf.
Tara Winterhalter & Tamara Rahil: Skit 11‘24
Everyday life, dreams, freedom, self-realization – what remains when all of this fades into distant memories? Skit 11‘24 explores, in its initial conceptual phase, the question of how resistance emerges and how this process can be expressed through dance. Using the contemporary dance style, it examines the delicate boundary between personal needs and an imposed reality.
Created and performed by: Tara Winterhalter and Tamara Rahil
Wenta: Vodoo Woman
Vodoo Woman presents the image of a woman who, in solitude, reflects on her identity – detached from societal expectations and rigid notions of femininity. What might such a woman look like? What words would describe her? This is a playful yet reflective process that explores the diversity of female identities while questioning the idea of a universal concept of “womanhood.” Does such a definition even exist? Or are these expectations what unsettle us at times, because we never truly fit into them?

Wenta & Nini: JITU (Journey into the Unknown)
At the heart of this performance lies the inner struggle: the battle with oneself, the silent walls we build around us, and the invisibility of our own cages. Driven by doubt and the yearning for freedom, we reach the breaking point – a moment of confrontation where everything is questioned.
We express this process through dance, breaking free from our limitations and embarking on a journey into the unknown.
