Traces

CANCELLED: Raimund Hoghe
Dates

Eine Frau hält ein kleines Kind an der Hand

This event is cancelled because of Covid-19.

Last autumn, Raimund Hoghe received the 2020 Deutsche Tanzpreis (German Dance Award), and he now returns to tanzhaus nrw with his newest creation. “Traces”, his most recent solo, retraces the tracks of one’s own story while reflecting the zeitgeist, present and past, securing evidence, referring, among other things, to those who left no traces on their flight to Europe, drowned in the Mediterranean.

“Traces” only took shape during its rehearsals, as do all of Raimund Hoghe’s pieces, and it reflects on the times we live in. Once again, music plays a crucial role in this process, the music that is a central ingredient within Raimund Hoghe’s work. As before, the beauty in music provides Raimund Hoghe with a means for survival in “Traces”, a means to gather strength for a wearing reality.

In her honorific speech, dance and theatre scholar Katja Schneider called Tanzpreis awardee Raimund Hoghe an “artist who nourishes the dream, keeping awake the longing for another life.”
