Die Schöpfung

HARTMANNMUELLER dedicate their new production to the space between nature and society. To retrace the strange networks that cover the earth today, they set up a laboratory in the stage space, a laboratory in which wild buds flourish. Because one thing is certain: The world in its hitherto existing categories does no longer function, and it is time to question the human self-conception as the crown of creation: Is human the result or antagonist of creation? Are we part of creation while we aim to rise above it as builders and destroyers?
The production casts light and shadow on narratives circling on nature, and it awakens our recollections of childhood as origin story. Instead of proven positions, HARTMANNMUELLER let fluid narratives flow, narratives in which they bathe the destructive ideologies, soften them and, in the best of cases, purge them. Are they explorers, participants in a test trial, onlookers or gods in all this?
Simon Hartmann and Daniel Ernesto Müller met during their studies at Folkwang University of the Arts in 2006, subsequently setting up HARTMANNMUELLER in Düsseldorf in 2011. They received the City of Düsseldorf’s Support Grant in the field of Performative Arts as well as the 2020 Conceptional Grant of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, laid out for a duration of three years. They have been regularly presenting their productions at tanzhaus nrw beginning in 2012.
