Dance for People with Multiple Sclerosis

Workshop with Bridget Quinn Petzold & Giuseppina Fregapane

This gentle, creative dance workshop is designed specifically for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and is completely wheelchair accessible. The majority of the workshop takes place in a seated position, ensuring a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for participants with a wide range of mobility levels. A central focus of the workshop is the exploration of movement qualities through images and stories. Participants are invited to infuse movement with meaning - through imagining textures, environments, emotions or narratives that make movement conscious and expressive. This approach promotes clarity, ease and range of movement so that everyone can move as fully as possible within their own scope and ability.
Using customizable movements, music, breathing exercises and guided improvisation, the workshop focuses on connection, creativity and presence rather than technique or performance.
In the second half of the workshop, Bridget will assess the group's needs and capabilities on the day and decide whether gentle standing improvisations are useful. Standing movements are completely optional and seated alternatives are always available.
Although carefully designed for accessibility and safety, the workshop is intended to be a creative movement experience and not a medical or therapeutic program. Participants are encouraged to listen to their bodies, take breaks, and participate in ways that are comfortable and supportive for them.
