Vereinbarung über ein respektvolles Miteinander im tanzhaus nrw

Agreement on a respectful coexistence at tanzhaus nrw

Dear visitors,

welcome to tanzhaus nrw. We are pleased that you are here! tanzhaus nrw is a place open to all people who feel committed to a democratic society and its values. Since its founding in 1978, tanzhaus nrw has seen itself as a utopian place for thinking about how we want to dance and live together. We work to make dance accessible to as many bodies as possible in as many facets as possible. tanzhaus nrw is a place for different communities to come together as well as for dance scenes far beyond the city of Düsseldorf.

How can we work together to create a space that is free of discrimination and where everyone feels safe and welcome? One step towards this goal is this agreement.

Discrimination is forbidden in Germany and with the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) there is a set of regulations that protect against discrimination based on racist motives or because of ethnic origin, gender, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual identity.

We do not tolerate at tanzhaus nrw

  •  Racism, antisemitism, sexism
  •  Queer or trans* hostility
  •  Hostility towards people with disabilities or chronic illnesses
  •  Age discrimination
  •  Discrimination based on social origin or social position
  •  Other discrimination and violence of any kind physically as well as verbally

We act in solidarity with any person who is treated contrary to this agreement. Discrimination can also occur unintentionally or unconsciously. For this reason, we take discrimination seriously as soon as a behaviour or statement is perceived as discriminatory.

If you have been treated contrary to the agreement during your visit or if you observe such behaviour, please contact the team of tanzhaus nrw directly. Our staff members have the right to actively and directly issue house bans. In addition, it is possible to contact us – also anonymously – via the e-mail address awareness@tanzhaus-nrw.de. The awareness team will directly address a reappraisal and is always approachable and open for feedback – also in regard to this agreement.
