What knowledge emerges from many years of working in dance for young audiences? What tools, criteria and principles do artists and programmers develop along the way—and how does their relationship with young audiences shape their understanding of dance?

This symposium centres on this practical knowledge. From an artistic perspective, it explores experiences gained through creative processes with young people, touring and regular performance practice, with its ongoing encounters with audiences. From a curatorial perspective, it asks how programmers develop their criteria, make decisions and place artistic works in relation to their audiences.

We are interested both in the small, often unspoken insights that emerge from everyday practice and in the principles that take shape and evolve over the years. This knowledge is individual and rooted in concrete experiences. The symposium brings together different artistic and curatorial positions to make this knowledge visible, reflect on it and share it with one another.

The event will take place in English and German Sign Language (DGS).
