Dancefloor instead of theatre-style seating, the concert hall becomes a club. Orchester im Treppenhaus promises a maximum of danceable sound exhilaration of minimal grooves and live beats. Without any electronic sounds, the audience encounters elements of contemporary music that leave them in dance ecstasy. In this way, the 20-piece ensemble has already proven at festivals such as FUSION or DETECT that there is such a thing as new music one can dance to!

With a playful joy of experimentation, the award-winning orchestra permanently explores the boundaries of the live situation concert, opening doors to new listening experiences, intimate moments, and surprising content. Classical music becomes a performance here, and the concert a very special experience.

What can classical music achieve today? During the last few years, the Orchester im Treppenhaus has become one of the leading proponents of the innovative classics scene in Germany and throughout Europe. In close collaboration with video artists, directors, actors, and composers, the ensemble conducts research into format developments in their laboratory city of Hanover.

Regular invitations to national and international locations and festivals such as Alte Oper Frankfurt, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Mozartfest Würzburg, Istanbul Music Restival, Reykjavik Art Festival, Podium Festival Esslingen, Beethovenfest Bonn, Detect Festival and Fusion Festival mirror the ensemble’s much sought-after and innovative work.
