DARK, HAPPY, to the CORE takes a furious look at the myth of ecstasy and euphoria while manifesting numerous symbols, archetypes, and structures for dance that all elicit affect and emotion. It is a riotous and complex exploration of that which makes us human, and that which connects us. The piece takes us on a breathtaking journey of ritual darkness to happy hardcore right to serene, collective, Caribbean coolness; DARK, HAPPY, to the CORE strives to reach utopia with abandon – without having to worry about ever reaching it.

Malik Nashad Sharpe’s multiple award-winning, exciting, and formally precise performances deal with subjects such as violence, alienation, horror, melancholia, but also the horizon. He frequently choreographs using his pseudonym Marikiscrycrycry.

Protea

Protea's DJ set has been meticulously constructed with a focus on Carribean percussion, using tempo as a tool to recontextualise and celebrate the dynamic rhythms of Dembow, Guaracha, Chutney, Ballroom and Dancehall. Protea is a resident DJ for Aaja Radio [London] and composes music for live dance performances. Protea’s music is diverse and pushes genre boundaries. With roots in 140, Techno & Left Field Bass, Protea produces tracks and mixes that consider dynamics (light and shade, delicate and intense) and are experimenting / pushing the boundaries of sound design and percussion.

Maurin

Hailing from Germany, Maurin's career began with his role as a semi-professional drummer in a metal band. He then transitioned to DJing, focusing on progressive minimal music in 2015, followed by his exploration into music further deepened when he ventured into production in 2016. Another notable milestone in his career was the release of "Dactyl" in 2018, a track that received support from Solomun and was released via ONISM. Maurin's musical repertoire continued to expand with a variety of releases on different labels such as Amber Recordings, JAW Dropping Records, Recovery Collective and Subios Records – showcasing his diverse influences from multiple genres within the electronic music sphere. Known for his distinctive sound, Maurin's music features dark basslines, heavy synths, and a unique groove that has become a signature in his sets. His performances have attracted a substantial audience, and he is now focused on expanding his presence by playing at more international venues.
