L’Âge d’or
Éric Minh Cuong Castaing and his ensemble embark on a journey, passing documentary and fiction, cinema and live performance. Here, professional dancers and students, people with and without disability, engage and illustrate, in a touching and delicate manner, how body and dance languages can be transferred while a collective dance starts to blossom.
During the evening’s first part, the film made in Marseille will be presented: In it, the ensemble comprised of ten children with disability and three professional dancers impressively find a common movement language. Movements in constant change are traded between the performers by means of contemporary body techniques and new technologies. VR goggles that convey smallest movements and visual events connect between them. The second part of the evening will transport the process shown in the film onto the stage, live with Düsseldorf children. The audience will witness the negotiation of movement and emotion in a choreographed improvisation in solos and duets. The performance invites you to trace the movement impulses in a living circle of influences and intensities.
French choreographer Éric Minh Cuong Castaing who already presented his plays at tanzhaus nrw, among them “School of Moon” and “Phoenix”, engages intensively with the connections between dance, technology and ethical questions. He develops many of his pieces together with children and youths.
