Course with Joseph P. Cooksey

Combi Classes offer the highest flexibility to you and to us. If possible, this course will take place on site at tanzhaus nrw. But, as long as we are not allowed to let any visitors into our studios, we will continue this class online via ZOOM. The limited number of participants guarantees for personal feedback online as well as in the studio.

The foundations of Joseph P. Cooksey’s jazz style are taken from the “jazz schools” of Luigi, Matt Mattox and José Meier. Joseph combines elements from those jazz pioneers with modern dance principles as well as with various ethnic dance techniques. A basis will be swiftly given with exercises on isolation, rhythm, and movement technique, in order to achieve a mindful schooling of the body while also enabling the support of natural movement skills, to develop the feeling of dancing.

Dance educator Joseph P. Cooksey deploys Zena Rommett Floor-Barre Technique®, modern dance, modern ballet and jazz in his classes. He taught at the Juilliard School, at the Dance Theater of Harlem, at the Alvin Aily American Dance Center and at the Philadelphia College for the Performing Arts. He is a certified Zena Rommett Floor-Barre Technique® teacher as well as a Master Teacher at their respective annual certifications.
