What is a body? And why do the media, advertising, and biology books always show those seemingly same bodies, over and over again? Sarah Huby starts a quest for that what a body is – or rather could be. From dance, language, and live drawing, a different kind of anatomy class unfolds: The body is more than skin, bones, and flesh. It is a landscape, a geometrical construction, a musical instrument, or a political statement. As a rousing solo, Hey Körper ?! is a declaration of love towards our bodies in all shapes and sizes.

Sarah Huby is a dancer. She studied Dance and Theatre at the École Internationale de Theatre Lassaad in her hometown of Brussels and contemporary dance at Die Etage Berlin. Her artistic path is closely entwined with Munich choreographer Anna Konjetzky: Together, they created many dance pieces while they also co-manage Studio Playground in Munich together with Quindell Orton and Susanne Schneider. Alongside dance, drawing is an important part of her artistic practice. In her research project Cartographies, she employs drawings and maps to scrutinise the depiction and perception of the human body. From this research rose the interactive THE ATLAS PROJECT (www.theatlasproject.de) website as well as Hey Körper ?! piece.
