„Maps of Emotion 2 – Venezia“ Premiere

A OpernFilmTanzInstallation with Live-Performance in the context of Back to the future Part 1: Dance and Media Art/Festival TEMPS D'IMAGES

The new installation by Cologne movie director Lutz Gregor, renowned dance film producer, consists of three large projections: the countertenor Brian Asawa and the dancers Karl Schreiner and Sara Simeoni roam through Venice at night, as if it were a living, breathing organism, pushed by their desires, energies and erotic fantasies. The pictures are carried and connected by the vocals of Brian Asawa, celebrated as the “world´s best countertenor” (Opera Today) who presents classical pieces as well as contemporary compositions by James Reynolds. At the premiere of the installation tanzhaus nrw shows the live performance “The Presence of an Absence” featuring the dancer Sara Simeoni and live music by James Reynolds, on Thursday, 10.01, at 21:30 h.

Th 10.01. – Th 17.01. Back to the future – 35 years of tanzhaus nrw Part 1: Dance and Media Art/Festival TEMPS D´IMAGES featuring performances, exhibition, film programme and professional discussions. For a start the new programme series “Back to the future – 35 years of tanzhaus nrw” for one week emphasizes the presentation of dance and media art. As in the previous years the TEMPS D´IMAGES festival presents art projects at the interfaces of contemporary dance, performance, film making and media art. The stage programme, the installations, for instance by Lutz Gregor and Hiroaki Umeda, as well as a film programme by Cinedans are  accompanied by the departments of design and media of the FH Düsseldorf and the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf.

The programme serie "Back to the future – 35 years of tanzhaus nrw“ is funded by Kunststiftung NRW (main sponsor) and Kunst- und Kulturstiftung der Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf, Van Meeteren Stiftung.
