Presentation RobodiesLab

for youths from the age of ten

Hi Robot – Das Mensch Maschine Festival

Public presentation: Sun 17.03. 11:30, NRW-Forum, Free entrance

The tanzhaus NRW-initiated RobodiesLab invites young people to deal with the body of the future, thinking about the interfaces between dance and coding. For this, we will be using open source code and the solution-oriented trial-and-error method prevailing in the hacking and developer scenes, offering the opportunity to combine body-enhancing technology with dance technique and choreographic principles in a playful manner. We pick up on the basic idea of the FabLab – short for “Fabrication Laboratory” – as well as on that of the Hackathon – a portmanteau of “hack” and “marathon”-, wherein the participants develop technical prototypes in a pre-set time and under democratic conditions.
We provide the basic facilities for robotics, programming and choreography with which the group, located in the NRW-Forum basement, gains access to the development and presentation of their own project and product models. You will receive input from mentors with knowledge in coding, dance, robotics, as well as in choreography. In the framework of a makerspace held on Saturday, March 16, from 10 am to 8 pm, we will extend the invitation to the meta marathon mini lecture visitors to come tinker, solder, program, and exchange.

RobodiesLab Fri, March 15, 4 pm until Sun, March 17, 2 pm, NRW-Forum, Ehrenhof 2, 40479 Düsseldorf.

Participation is free of charge and only possible via prior registration, with optional overnight stays. Basic knowledge in dance or coding is beneficial, but we definitely also welcome newcomers. Please direct your questions to Karolina Albricht, Fachstelle für Jugendmedienkultur NRW, at albrich@fjmk.de. You can find the complete announcement in the PDF below.
