12.09. Mieze McCripple, Soraya Nsingi, ZANIAH (Sahra Abbassi)

In September, Dance like nobody’s watching is remixed by the Community of Reception – a group of blind, visually impaired and sighted artists – inviting audiences to take part in a special party experimentas part of Claiming Common Spaces VIII. You can find more information here.

Mieze McCripple is a Düsseldorf-based drag artist, MC, host and activist working against ableism. Through hosting, spoken word and performance, Mieze McCripple combines sharp social critique with humour, empowerment and political intervention. In 2025, Mieze McCripple was awarded the title Drag Star NRW and founded the House of McCripple, a drag collective for disabled people. Mieze McCripple also serves on the board of the Queeres Zentrum Düsseldorf, where they develop formats that foster queer visibility, cultural participation and community-building.
In 2026, Mieze McCripple begins a close collaboration with tanzhaus nrw, working with the Community of Reception / Laboratory for Creative Audio Description in Dance as well as with Chiara Bersani on Will You Become a Zombie with Me?, a Halloween gathering exploring wet glamour, drag and transformation.

Soraya Nsingi studies Transculturality at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, specialising in Afro-diasporic cinema while combining academic research with a multidisciplinary artistic practice. Alongside theatre, film and performance projects, Soraya Nsingi is active in Düsseldorf's freestyle dance scene and explores creative approaches to language, hosting and community facilitation. Their work moves between performance, mediation and spoken word, drawing on humour, surrealism and horror to reflect on experiences of marginalisation.

ZANIAH (Sahra Abbassi) is a queer multidisciplinary performance artist, choreographer, MC and DJ based in Hamburg. A prominent figure in the European ballroom scene, ZANIAH brings together contemporary dance, Vogue Femme and club culture with community practice, hosting and musical dramaturgy. As German Princess of the Iconic House of Revlon and Mother of the Legendary Kiki House of Marciano, ZANIAH actively contributes to ballroom culture as an artistic, social and community-based practice.

10.10. DJ Freegah

Cologne-based DJ Freegah grew up during arguably the most influential times in the history of Afrobeat. His passion for African-inspired music genres and his acquaintance with DJs across the continent later inspired him to take over the turntables when he moved to Europe. We are delighted to welcome DJ Freegah for the third time to heat up the dancefloor!

28.11. DJ T/Error

Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Pop, RnB, Rock, Oldies but Goldies

T/Error loves the urgency of music and the physical experience of dance. Whether as a DJane or commentator in the ballroom scene, she is looking for connections. With the space, the music and the voice. This aspiration gives rise to a variety of genre influences, ranging from Afrobeats, hip hop and RnB to pop and rock. You gotta just feel it.
