HARTMANNMUELLER
HARTMANNMUELLER visit their own past to sharpen our view of the present. Their piece it is what it is appeared in 2015, in which two isolated performers indulged in monotonous work routines and created expressive contrasts between destruction and transience.Exactly ten years later, the view of the piece is different. Transfigured in parts and softened at the edges, as in a painting by Monet. In other parts it is honest, unsparing and clear.
The world in which the new work is created is also different. An unprecedented battle for the right to interpret events has broken out. And in the (social) media, emotionalisation is a key guarantee for click figures and the widest possible dissemination of opinions.
In it (still) is what it is, the daily routines of the characters on stage are analysed using minimalist and precise movement elements. A voice from offstage once again directs and guides the action. But what or who is this voice? And what messages does it hold for the performers and the audience? HARTMANNMUELLER invite you to a nostalgically intense exploration of hidden emotions and the power of manipulation.
HARTMANNMUELLER, founded in 2011 by Simon Hartmann and Daniel Ernesto Mueller, stand for an unmistakable artistic signature. With a unique interplay of humour and seriousness, dance and performance as well as gender roles and pop-cultural aesthetics, they explore universal themes such as love, shame, anger, grief and hope. Their work is anchored in contemporary discourses and touches the audience in a deeply emotional way. HARTMANNMUELLER have a long-standing working relationship with tanzhaus nrw, a central venue for their artistic work. They recently wowed audiences with the world premiere of the performative concert HYBRID LOVE and their euphoric dance piece Let*s dance.
