Living longer, living eternally? Dying, resurrecting and going on with life? Swiss choreographer Tabea Martin shows – playfully, humorously and with a wink – how many images and imaginations lie between mortality and immortality. What do children think about life and death, about dying and immortality? Have they been confronted with death yet? What fantasies on life after death do they carry? How can you, how may one, even, confront children with this topic?
With the aid of interviews, games and workshops, the imagination and fantasies of children between 8 and 12 were awoken. The resulting material will now gain entrance into a play that creates a world of immortality in the middle of mortal life – with litres of fake blood and a boundless joy in performing. A visual, joyful, sensitive and eventful journey through the children’s imagery begins.
Duration: 65 min.
“Forever” is part of a trilogy on the topic of immortality, developed by Swiss choreographer Tabea Martin. In her new choreography, Martin tries to move away from familiar concepts and interpretations like heaven and hell, wholly trusting the body and its expressiveness in this, counting on its fragility as well as resilience.
