Oriental Dance

Course with Manis

In her courses, Manis puts the focus on topics like classical oriental dance, folklore, veil dancing, drum solos, oriental fusion and many more. She especially emphasises teaching her participants the proud, feminine and confident movement language of oriental dance in all its facets. The classes are made up of a warm-up of twenty to thirty minutes, followed by coordination exercises for hands, arms, torso, hips, legs and feet, leaving ample time for different dance techniques. More often than not, different props such as staffs, cymbals, different forms of veils as well as sabres will be employed. So, she develops dance combinations and imaginative choreographies together with the course participants. “Oriental dance is a very feminine dance to me, emphasising the body, a dance style, stimulating health, that can actually be performed well into old age. We all become older and older, and movement when reaching seniority becomes increasingly important.”
